We have to express our deep sadness about the racist incidents that continue to cut the lives of black people short every day. We stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement asking for a long-overdue change. The historical, lasting, and persistent violence against the black community has to stop.
We were proud to see this movement grow internationally too. In Istanbul and Athens where we grew up, there were protests denouncing police violence in solidarity with the protests here in the United States.
Our small contribution
We have decided to donate 15% of our earnings through June 15th to help the fight against police brutality, systemic racism and injustice against black people and people of color.
We will be donating half of that to gofundme.org's Justice and Equality fund, which in turn supports nation-scale nonprofits that include The Bail Project, the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund, and the Center for Policing Equity.
The other half will be going to Bed-Stuy Strong, a mutual aid network in our neighborhood. We believe that donating to local, grassroots formations a good way to get help where it's needed quickly.
